Located in Tauranga, in the sunny Bay of Plenty, we are lucky to be surrounded by some of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most beautiful scenery, beaches, walks, mountains and lakes right on our doorstep. BTI offer part-time, full-time and distance study options across Teaching, Social Work, Counselling, Master’s and postgraduate study as well as a Level 4 certificate in study and career preparation.
At BTI, we are a dedicated and growing community of learners who are motivated by a Christian faith that is meaningful to us and fuels our passion to be agents of positive change. Stretching our students toward excellence in their chosen field is a high priority and developing the “whole person” is an integral part of that process and is really important to us. This approach makes our graduates stand out from the crowd and, most importantly, make a difference in the lives of others.
Coming to BTI will be one of the best decisions you’ll ever make, and we look forward to welcoming you to the BTI whānau.
Great Hearts and Minds
BTI is dedicated to growing our students’ hearts as well as their minds during their tertiary study with us. We know that great practice comes from great hearts and minds.
Our staff have years of experience and practical training in their relevant fields, many in different parts of Aotearoa New Zealand and from around the world.
Our undergraduate degrees are of very high quality, providing exceptional success rates and fitting our students for professional roles in some of the most rewarding careers – as teachers, counsellors, social workers. Our postgraduate programmes are world-class.
Distance or Online Learning
BTI has been teaching distance learning for nearly 20 years. Students have exclusive access to our dedicated learning portal, BTI Online and use tools of remote working.
With our campus in the sunny Bay of Plenty district, studying at BTI can allow for an amazing lifestyle. You could be surfing in the morning, studying in the afternoon, then dining out or soaking in hot pools after dark.
Recognising and celebrating tīkanga Māori is an important aspect to studying at BTI, whether through learning te reo in class or singing waiata together with our educators on campus.
