Ko wai mātou

This is our Whai Purapura conceptual framework.

The name for our programme was gifted to us by Ngāti Kahu and it reads:

Whai Purapura: Ngā hua o Te Atua, te Whenua me te Mātauranga;
Sow the seeds of the Lord in the garden of hope, to enrich the growth of future educators.

This name forms the metaphor of our programme where each paper is named after each aspect of the garden.

Everything we do is underpinned by BTI’s Christian foundation, values and mission, Te Tiriti o Waitangi informed practice and understanding of current legislation. This commitment is woven throughout our courses and an integral point of reflection and engagement. We teach out of who we are and ask that students not only bring themselves to receive knowledge and understanding, but share their stories and knowledge, to contribute to the growth of others.
