Bachelor of Social Work

Social Work

The Bachelor of Social Work at BTI is the only faith-based social work programme in Aotearoa New Zealand. Students are challenged to develop a holistic approach to practice that incorporates purpose, motivation, and professional competence.

Social work is a practice-based profession that requires the integration of diverse knowledge, skills, and values. We believe Jesus provides a model for social work through a life of compassion, justice, advocacy for the marginalised, and commitment to transformation.

Our programme emphasises partnership with Māori and draws on the richness of indigenous knowledge about working with people and communities. Students are supported to explore their own history and social context, and to grow in empathy and understanding of diverse cultures and practices.
