Academic dress or regalia for graduation day

How to wear academic dress or regalia:

The Gown goes on first. Arms come out through the first hole (A) All Graduands wear a gown

The Sash/Stole goes on second. It is worn around the shoulders and drapes down the front. All graduands wear a Sash/Stole (B)

The Degree Hood is only worn by those who are graduating with a degree. Graduands will either wear a BTI Hood in the appropriate programme colour, or a hood from a different institution (If they already hold a degree).

The hood is passed over the head and held in position by the neckband

The neck band should be placed at the front so that the central point of the V lines up with the middle of the body (C) Secure in place with pins so that it holds firm. The hood hangs down the back. Drape so that a section of the lining is showing (D)

The Trencher (Hat) is only worn by those who are graduating with a degree.

The deeper peak should be at the back; the board should be horizontal and the tassel should be on the left of the person wearing the trencher (D)
