Biography
Naomi has worked as a kaiako in primary education for 20 years, teaching tamariki across Aotearoa New Zealand and in the United Kingdom. She is passionate about training and equipping ākonga into future success, building community and overcoming difficulties. Her teaching experience over all primary levels supports her expertise in these areas majoring on the Junior levels.
Naomi comes to teacher education with skills in literacy enhanced by a specific focus on Reading Recovery. Her passion for integrating the arts across the curriculum brings a dynamic and engaging approach to her practice as an educator. Part of Naomi’s role as an educator is Cohort Mentor, a role in which she excels, where she is highly relational and naturally engages in whanaungatanga and manaakitanga.
Having completed her Postgraduate Certificate in Digital and Collaborate Learning Naomi is currently working towards her Master of Contemporary Education. This study will add to her current roles and capacity for leadership and collaboration in contemporary education which will impact all ākonga.
Naomi thrives in the tuakana/teina relationships of education. She is passionate and committed to teaching and learning both for herself and others as her heart is to see students grow and excel as future educators in Aotearoa New Zealand.
