Biography
Amy first joined the School of Social Practice in 2023 and her role involves providing pastoral care to distance counselling students through Ngā Maunga Āwhina. Additionally, she is one of the Regional Coordinators in the Counselling Practicum team and is an educator on various counselling papers. She is deeply committed to supporting counselling students on their learning journey, ensuring they have the guidance and resources needed to succeed.
Amy is a BTI graduate herself and is currently in the process of obtaining her certification as an adult educator. Much of Amy’s work is influenced by her multicultural background, having grown up in Zimbabwe and lived in Asia and her interests centre around the impacts of trauma through an intersectional lens.
With a focus on both trauma and neurodiversity, Amy has experience as a high school counsellor and in private practice. Prior to training as a counsellor, Amy’s diverse professional background was in business and IT project management, and she is a qualified Interior Stylist and Florist.
Outside of her professional commitments, Amy finds balance by walking, enjoying family life and pursuing her interests in creative contemplation.
