This month, Bethlehem Tertiary Institute (BTI) formalised a new partnership with Ākonga Education, an agency dedicated to supporting international students seeking to study in New Zealand. This collaboration reflects BTI’s commitment to working with organisations that prioritise students’ well-being and provide holistic care throughout their study journey.
Ākonga Education ensures that international students are supported at every stage, from application and visa processing to settling into life in New Zealand. Their personalised approach helps students focus on their studies and thrive in their new environment.
Focus on Filipino Students
Our partnership begins with a focus on students from the Philippines, a country with a rich cultural heritage and strong community values. Filipino students who choose BTI can access programmes in teaching, counselling, social work, and leadership, all within a nurturing and values-driven learning environment. Over time, we plan to extend this opportunity to students from other countries, expanding our global reach.
A Holistic Approach to Support
At BTI, we believe education extends beyond academics to personal and spiritual growth. Together with Ākonga Education, we aim to create a supportive environment that helps international students feel at home while adjusting to life in New Zealand. From finding accommodation to accessing emotional and spiritual care, we’re committed to ensuring students thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
A Shared Mission
This partnership aligns with BTI and Ākonga Education’s shared mission of transforming lives through education and care. By working together, we aim to empower students to grow, succeed, and make meaningful contributions to their communities. Guided by our faith, we see this venture as an opportunity to reflect Christ’s love through hospitality and connection.
Looking Ahead
This partnership marks an exciting chapter in BTI’s journey to support international students. By welcoming students from diverse backgrounds, we’re building a vibrant, globally connected learning community.
