October 31, 2022

International expert on addictions Professor Kenneth Leonard visiting BTI in November

We’re delighted to welcome Professor Kenneth Leonard to BTI in November.

Professor Leonard, PhD is the Director of the Clinical and Research Institute on Addictions and Professor in Psychiatry at the University at Buffalo Medical School. He is onsite in Tauranga to meet with Aotearoa communities and specialists working in the addictions field, engage with BTI’s research with Brave Hearts NZ, and be involved in developing a new programme on addictions – more details coming soon!

Please join us on Wednesday/Rāapa 16 November, from 5:30pm when Professor Leonard will be giving a short presentation on Alcohol and Family. In his presentation, Professor Kenneth Leonard will explore the variety of ways an alcohol use disorder can impact child development, touching on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, and family functioning. He will discuss how alcohol use disorders influence parenting and thereby child functioning, and what family factors can mitigate that.

There will also be an opportunity for questions afterwards, followed by refreshments onsite at BTI.

You can join us online via zoom – register now.
