Biography

Catherine was born and raised in Te Aroha West, a dairy farming community just south of Te Aroha. While she now resides in Tauranga and enjoys a Bay lifestyle, Te Aroha is her turangawaewae and will always be ‘home’. She is proud of her rural roots and connections.

Catherine completed a Bachelor of Teaching in the 1990’s and specialized in teaching Art, Drama, English, and Alternative Education prior to beginning her study of Narrative Therapy at the University of Waikato, graduating in 2014. Her counselling practice has been mostly in schools and hospice, and with some private practice.

In early 2019 Catherine joined the BTI Counselling Programme, teaching in a range of courses, using both her counselling practice and prior teaching experience to help shape and equip future counsellors. Catherine is passionate about both counselling and teaching and her hope is to bring Spirit-inspired, collaborative teaching and learning to the students with whom she has the pleasure of working with.

Catherine is the proud mother of five, grandmother to four and counting.
